TOUR OVER VIEW
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Arusha, heading southwest to Tarangire National Park. This scenic drive takes approximately two hours and brings you into a park known for its majestic baobab trees and high density of elephants. After entering the park, you’ll embark on a game drive in search of elephants, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and the big cats that hunt in the area. Tarangire is particularly rewarding during the dry season when the Tarangire River becomes a magnet for thirsty wildlife. A picnic lunch will be served in the park, followed by more game viewing into the afternoon. In the evening, you’ll head to your lodge or camp near Tarangire for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, you’ll enjoy a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Though compact, the park offers a wide variety of habitats and wildlife. During your full-day game drive, you’ll explore groundwater forests, open grassy areas, and the alkaline lake that hosts flamingos and other bird species. Keep an eye out for the park’s famous tree-climbing lions, elephants, hippos, and large troops of baboons. A picnic lunch will be provided within the park, and later in the afternoon, you’ll drive to the nearby town of Karatu for dinner and overnight at a lodge or tented camp.
Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park (via Ngorongoro Highlands)
Today begins with an early breakfast as you depart Karatu and drive through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands en route to Serengeti National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass traditional Maasai villages and have the option to stop at the Ngorongoro Crater viewpoint for photos. As you descend onto the vast Serengeti plains, you’ll begin game driving immediately — spotting wildlife en route to your central Serengeti lodge or camp. Serengeti is famous for its endless plains, big cats, and, depending on the time of year, the Great Wildebeest Migration. You’ll enjoy an afternoon game drive before settling in for dinner and an overnight stay in the heart of the Serengeti.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Spend the full day exploring the world-renowned Serengeti, one of the most celebrated wildlife destinations on Earth. Morning and afternoon game drives will take you across different parts of the park in search of lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and massive herds of herbivores. If you’re visiting during the migration season, you may witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras on the move. You’ll break for a picnic lunch or return to the lodge depending on your preference. Optional hot air balloon safaris can also be arranged early in the morning for a bird’s eye view of the plains. Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation under the African sky.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, enjoy one last game drive in the Serengeti as you begin your journey back east toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You’ll stop for a picnic lunch along the way and may visit a Maasai boma (traditional village) for a cultural experience. The road travels through incredible scenery and offers additional opportunities for wildlife viewing. You’ll arrive at your lodge or camp on the crater rim or in Karatu in the late afternoon. Enjoy dinner and rest in preparation for your descent into the crater the next morning.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
An early start today takes you down into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five in a single day. The crater floor is rich with wildlife, including lions, elephants, rhinos, hippos, buffalo, and more. You’ll spend the morning on a game drive across grasslands, forests, and around the soda lake, enjoying close encounters with animals in this natural caldera. After a picnic lunch near a hippo pool, you’ll continue exploring before ascending the crater wall and returning to your lodge in Karatu or Mto wa Mbu for your final overnight.
Day 7: Return to Arusha / Departure
After a relaxed breakfast, begin the return journey to Arusha, passing through farmlands and villages with views of the Rift Valley. Depending on your flight time, you may stop for local shopping or lunch en route. Upon arrival in Arusha, you’ll be dropped at your hotel or directly at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward flight, bringing your unforgettable Tanzanian safari to a close.
